Online approval of layout plans

Greater Chennai has seen a buzz of activity. With new housing projects, commercial buildings and several other amenities popping up, getting approvals and permits for construction and layout plans is quite difficult. To ease this out, the Chennai Corporation has set up an online process for Greater Chennai. Though the system is on a trial run in few areas, it is expected to be launched by August.

The earlier online system lacked payment gateway and also it took more than six months to get an approval. With the new system, one can submit the application online through the Chennai Corporation Citizen Portal. The system will generate an acknowledgement and it will schedule an automated inspection. The applicant will receive SMS and email notifications. After inspection, the payment of fee and printing of approved plan copy can be made via the citizen portal.

The Corporation is also planning to integrate this system with the Airport Authority and the CMDA to make it a single window to enable buildings to get approvals hassle-free.
