Indian majors’ industrial hub

A salubrious climate, healthy living conditions and proximity to Bengaluru (just 35 km) made Hosur an ideal town for industrial development.  The electronics boom enjoyed by Bengaluru triggered the development of this once sleepy town known just for its cattle breeds. How massively the face of Hosur has changed! Such range of industries! Such sophistication!

SIPCOT had several initial advantages. The chief one was proximity to  Bangaluru. Availability of land at modest prices and a salubrious climate were other factors that resulted in a large number of Indian as well as foreign companies setting up shop at Hosur. TVS Motors, Ashok Leyland, Titan, Hindustan Motors, Alstom, Caterpillar, Exide, Hindustan Unilever, Bata Shoes and Del Monte Foods, to name just a few have located major production facilities in Hosur.

SIPCOT constantly expanded the infrastructure facilities. Road and rail got improved.  Agro climatic conditions, fertile land and access to fresh water helped raise a large variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Cut roses from Hosur enjoy great export custom. In short time Hosur emerged the fastest growing industrial complex in the country producing a wide range of industrial and consumer goods.
