Renault revving up small car launch

French car maker Renault is planning its small car launch. Priced at around Rs 4 lakh, it is expected to hit the markets in mid-2015. It will be Renault’s second offering in the crowded small car segment after the rebranded Nissan’s Micra as the Pulse flowing from its joint venture with the Japanese auto maker.

Renault is already planning to widen its dealer network from 125 to 170 by December this year. The company’s joint facility in Chennai with Nissan has increased the overall production capacity to near 500,000 units per annum from the existing 400,000 units to accommodate the new model.

With the launch of the new small car, enault hopes to enhance its market share in the high volume small car segment to about 5 per cent which is dominated by Maruti

Suzuki and Hyundai Motor.
